The Court/Victim Advocate provides trauma-informed crisis intervention and comprehensive legal advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Acting as a vital bridge between survivors and the judicial system, the Advocate empowers clients through safety planning, courtroom accompaniment, and navigation of legal proceedings. This role is dedicated to ensuring survivors have the resources, transportation, and emotional support necessary to reclaim their autonomy and pursue justice
Qualifications:
- Be familiar with the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, etc.
- Working knowledge of the legal system and the current state and federal laws.
- Ability to serves as a liaison between the victim and other agencies
- Ability to utilize multi-tasking skills and attend to detail.
- Ability to handle high stress crisis situations while utilizing sound judgement and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work sensitively with traumatized victims and to handle the crisis effectively.
- Ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills with clients, co- workers, and community partners.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
