Position Summary
The General Contracting Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates for a variety of construction projects. This position requires previous estimating experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients. Experience estimating excavation and sitework projects is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop competitive bid proposals and budgets.
- Coordinate with project managers throughout the bidding process.
- Analyze project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Assist with project handoffs after successful bid awards.
- Estimate excavation, grading, utility, and sitework scopes when applicable.
Qualifications
- 5 years of estimating experience in commercial or general construction required.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs.
- Familiarity with excavation, earthwork, grading, underground utilities, or site development is a strong plus.
- Excellent mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple bids while meeting deadlines.
- Valid driver's license.
