Full-Time Pit Cook at Interstellar BBQ

InterStellar BBQ is looking for a Full-Time Daytime-Evening Pit Cook to Join our Team

We are looking for the right person to join us at Interstellar BBQ on our pit team.
InterStellar BBQ is a Michelin Star and Texas Monthly Top 10 BBQ Joint. We are a small batch barbecue restaurant in NW Austin/Cedar Park that is focused on high quality ingredients, creative sides, and fun desserts. We value quality over quantity and we make the majority of all our food in house. We are a small crew that wants to work with someone who is excited about food and taking care of our customers.

Job Description and requirements:

*This is a full time position. You will be trained to work our morning cook, 2am to 11am (these run Wednesday-Sunday), this would be your primary position, but you will be trained on both shifts. Full time hours and weekends availability is mandatory.

Things You'll Be Doing:

*Working and maintaining fire for the shift
* Smoking pork spare ribs, lamb shoulders, turkey breast, sausage, pork belly. Grilling and finishing items on our Santa Maria. Other items may be needed by the restaurant as necessary.
*Seasoning of meats and various specials
*Being a team player, maintaining cleanliness and doing dishes while on your shift

*Finishing meats and being able to judge doneness
*Being able to multitask, have time management skills and prep during the shift
*Cleaning of the pit, the pit room, prep station, kitchen, dish pit and maintaining sanitation of area to ensure food safety

Position Requirements:
*Be able to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds
*Good communication skills
*Being a team player in a small restaurant where team work is required
*Trustworthy, dependable and punctual
*Must love BBQ and hospitality! Those are the reasons that we are all here.
*Must have reliable transportation to work

Compensation/Benefits:

*$17/hr based on experience, plus tips. Total Compensation averages $26-$30/hr.

*We offer health insurance (dental and vision offered as well) after 60 days of employment with a generous employer contribution as well as a week of vacation each summer (paid after one year with the company).

Expected hours: 40-42 per week
