Build a Safety Career That Makes a Real Impact

As aSafety Technician II at Interstates, you'll help protect people, support field teams, and strengthen a culture where safety comes first. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, and building trusted relationships across the job site.

You'll partner with site leadership and field teams to identify hazards, strengthen safety practices, and help ensure every person on site has the tools and support needed to work safely.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee day-to-day safety operations on a construction site
  • Instruct site management to identify and immediately correct unsafe working conditions or equipment
  • Lead investigations of unsafe acts and accidents to determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Monitor and promote on-site safety audits
  • Lead site safety meetings
  • Train interns or Safety Technician I team members
  • Work with site management to ensure safety equipment and supplies are available on site
  • Assist with root cause analysis meetings and documentation
  • Manage site-specific injuries and accidents with limited direction

Travel Requirements

  • This role requires 100% travel within the United States.
  • Projects may require travel for extended periods of time, depending on scope and schedule.
  • Work across a variety of industries and project types
  • This position is ideal for someone who enjoys travel, variety, and field-based work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field
  • OR OSHA 510 certification
  • OR equivalent combination of education and field experience
  • Construction safety experience
  • NFPA/70E training
  • 30-hour OSHA training
  • Willingness to travel nationwide
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations
  • Ability to write reports and procedures
  • Ability to calculate OSHA incident rates and percentages
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint, and general computer applications
  • Sound judgment, strong prioritization skills, and ability to work well under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous construction safety experience
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience supporting incident investigations
  • Comfort presenting to groups or leading toolbox talks
  • Experience training interns or junior team members
  • Familiarity with behavioral-based safety practices

Compensation

  • $33 - $36/hr, compensation is based on experience and may vary based on skill level, certifications, and project responsibilities
  • Bonus potential
  • Per diem, as applicable
