Interstates is hiring an Electrical Estimator II. In this role, you'll turn drawings, specs, and ideas into accurate, competitive estimates that help win and deliver complex industrial projects.
You'll work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams-playing a key role from early bid strategy through project handoff. If you're detail-driven, collaborative, and comfortable working with ownership, this is a chance to directly influence project success.

What you'll do
- Build accurate, competitive estimates using Interstates tools and systems
- Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to define scope and pricing
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to develop project scope
- Analyze cost history, labor units, and production data to strengthen estimates
- Identify risks, gaps, and value-add opportunities-and communicate them clearly
- Support proposal development and strategy with the proposal team
- Document assumptions, clarifications, and decisions throughout the bid cycle
- Assist with contract review, negotiations, and project handoff to execution teams
- Contribute to improving estimating methods, tools, and standards
Additional responsibilities
- Support change orders and cost-to-complete estimates on active projects
- Partner with project managers and engineers on ongoing work
- Help standardize estimating approaches across design/build and plan/spec work
What you bring
- 2-3 years of industrial electrical estimating experience (or similar)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage details, prioritize work, and stay organized
- Clear communication and a team-first mindset
Technical skills (preferred)
- Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
- Understanding of electrical fundamentals (voltage drop, conduit fill, ampacity, etc.)
Location & Travel
Sioux Center, IA (office-based)
10% travel to nearby job sites
