What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at INTERSTATE WAREHOUSING INC?
SUMMARY:
Receives, stores, and distributes products in refrigerated and/or frozen rooms within a warehouse established by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reads shipping order and/or picking order to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Positions forks and/or other lifting devices under or over loaded pallets and transports same to designated warehouse areas and/or storage racks by operating electric-powered forklifts or electric-powered hand-trucks.
- Loads and/or unloads product items and other materials onto and off pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Lifts, counts, sorts, and places product items on pallets according to order fill instructions or special requirements.
- Prepares and records order fill tickets and truck logs (load sheets) in accordance with company standards.
- Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Day Shift - Starting up to $23.00 - $24.00/hr (Perfect Attendance incentive included as long as applicable)
- Night Shift - Starting up to $25.00-$26.00/hr (Perfect Attendance incentive included as long as applicable)
Available Shifts:
Day 1 : Starts up to $23/hr: Sunday 6am-6pm, Monday 6am-6pm, Tuesday 6am-6pm, Wednesday 6am-12pm
Day 2: Starts up to $24/hr: Wednesday 12pm-6pm, Thursday 6am-6pm, Friday 6am-6pm, Saturday 6am-6pm
Night 1: Starts up to $25/hr: Sunday 6pm-6am, Monday 6pm-6am, Tuesday 6pm-6am, Wednesday 6pm-12am
Night 2: Starts up to $26/hr: Wednesday 12am-6am, Thursday 6pm-6am, Friday 6pm-6am, Saturday 6pm-6am
Qualifications:- No forklift experience needed!
- Looking for applicants with good job longevity.
- Applicants must pass a preemployment math/safety test.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate in 0-36 degree temperatures with provided PPE.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Willingness to learn and operate heavy equipment such as forklifts.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and materials handling is a plus.
- Prior experience with order picking or shipping & receiving tasks is advantageous.
