JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Title: Diesel Mechanic - Second Shift
(3:30pm-12:00am) Location: Butler, Wisconsin Company: Interstate Power
Systems We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our second
shift team (3:00 PM - 12:00 PM) to perform maintenance and repairs on
heavy-duty trucks and equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive
experience in diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and preventative
maintenance, ensuring our fleet operates safely and efficiently. Key
Responsibilities: Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines,
transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems on heavy-duty
trucks and equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance,
including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks. Conduct
thorough inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance
with DOT regulations. Utilize diagnostic tools and software to
troubleshoot complex engines and system failures. Repair or replace
defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used in
compliance with company policies. Collaborate with team members and
supervisors to prioritize tasks and minimize equipment downtime. Adhere
to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Occasionally assist with emergency roadside repairs during shift hours.
Qualifications: Journeyman-level certification or equivalent experience
as a diesel mechanic (5 years preferred). In-depth knowledge of
heavy-duty truck and equipment systems, including Cummins, Detroit, or
Caterpillar engines. Proficiency with diagnostic tools (e.g., Cummins
Insite, Detroit Diagnostic Link) and repair manuals. Valid driver\'s
license; CDL preferred but not required. Ability to work independently
and efficiently during second shift hours (3:00 PM - 12:00 PM). Strong
problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Physical ability to lift
to 50 lbs., bend, and stand for extended periods. Welding and
fabrication experience is a plus. Must provide own basic tools;
specialty tools provided by the company. Education and Training: High
school diploma or GED required. Completion of a diesel mechanic
apprenticeship or technical training program. ASE certifications (e.g.,
T2-T8 series) strongly preferred. Work Environment: Second shift
schedule: 3:00 PM - 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional
overtime work as needed. Work performed in a shop environment with
