Position Summary

The Field Technical Manager is responsible for providing hands-on technical support and product expertise to customers, distributors, dealers, and internal sales teams in the field. This role focuses on troubleshooting diesel engine component issues, supporting product installations, conducting failure analysis, and strengthening customer relationships through technical service and training.

The Field Technical Manager serves as the bridge between customers, sales, engineering, quality, and product management teams to improve product performance, resolve technical concerns, and support business growth within the heavy-duty diesel aftermarket and off-highway industries.


Key Responsibilities

Field Technical Support

  • Travel to customer locations, distributors, repair facilities, and fleet operations to provide technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose engine component failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support installation and startup of diesel engine components and overhaul kits.
  • Assist customers with product application questions and technical concerns.
  • Conduct on-site inspections related to warranty claims and product performance issues.


Failure Analysis & Warranty Support

  • Perform root cause analysis on failed diesel engine components.
  • Document findings through technical reports, photographs, and recommendations.
  • Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams to identify recurring issues and product improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical feedback from the field to support continuous improvement initiatives.


Customer & Distributor Support

  • Build strong relationships with distributors, fleets, engine rebuilders, and end users.
  • Support sales teams during customer visits and technical presentations.
  • Help customers improve installation practices and reduce repeat failures.
  • Provide rapid response for critical customer situations and field emergencies.


Technical Training

  • Conduct hands-on technical training for:
  • Distributors
  • Service technicians
  • Sales representatives
  • Customer service teams
  • Develop training materials, installation guides, and troubleshooting documents.
  • Assist in creating technical videos and product support content.


Sales & Business Development Support

  • Identify opportunities for additional product sales and customer growth while in the field.
  • Support new product launches and customer conversions.
  • Help strengthen brand loyalty through technical expertise and customer service.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitor feedback to management.


Qualifications

Education

  • Mechanical Engineer and/or Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Diesel Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent hands-on industry experience strongly considered.


Experience

  • 5 years of experience in:
  • Heavy-duty diesel engines
  • Engine rebuilding
  • Diesel engine diagnostics
  • Technical service or field support
  • Strong understanding of diesel engine systems and aftermarket components.
  • Experience working directly with fleets, distributors, or repair facilities preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel required (50–75%)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically and internationally if needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00- $75,000.00 per year
