This position is primarily based on-site in either Fort Worth, Texas or Cisco, Texas, with frequent travel between the two locations.
Position Summary: We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Controller to lead and manage the accounting and financial functions of our dynamic earthworks company. The Controller will play a pivotal role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Direct all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and inventory accounting.
- Prepare and present timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections; monitor performance against these benchmarks.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, financial reporting requirements, and internal policies.
- Coordinate and manage annual audits, liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic initiatives and capital investments.
- Partner with operations to optimize cost control, inventory management, and profitability.
- Analyze pricing models, vendor terms, and purchasing processes for efficiency and cost savings.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to maintain a high-performance environment.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise required).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
- Moves throughout the building to access files.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
