Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers at the parts and service counter with professionalism and efficiency.
- Process customer orders for heavy-duty diesel parts, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding parts availability, pricing, and estimated delivery times.
- Handle returns, exchanges, and warranty claims in accordance with company policies.
- Technician Support:
- Fulfill parts requests for second-shift technicians working in the service bays to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure the correct parts are pulled and delivered promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with service staff to prioritize urgent repair needs.
- Parts Management:
- Utilize inventory management systems to locate, retrieve, and track parts.
- Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and stock parts in designated areas.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Identify and report low-stock or high-demand items to the parts manager.
- Administrative Duties:
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and payments accurately.
- Document all transactions and maintain organized records for parts and service orders.
- Communicate with vendors or suppliers as needed to expedite parts orders.
- Shop Support:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe counter and parts storage area.
- Assist with light shop duties as needed, such as organizing tools or delivering parts to bays.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or experience in diesel mechanics is a plus.
- 1-2 years of experience in a parts counter, customer service, or automotive/diesel shop environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of heavy-duty diesel parts and systems or willingness to learn.
- Proficiency with inventory management software and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, POS systems).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and move parts as needed.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for occasional parts pick-up or delivery.
- Familiarity with heavy-duty diesel brands (e.g., Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel).
- Experience with counter sales or order fulfillment in a service-oriented industry.
- Problem-solving skills to address customer or technician needs effectively.
