What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Manager position at Interscape Commercial Environments?
About Interscape Commercial Environments
Interscape is a fast-growing commercial furniture dealership based in Farmington, CT. As a Teknion-aligned dealer and three-time Platinum Dealer award winner, we help businesses across commercial, healthcare, and education sectors furnish the spaces where work happens — and we take that seriously.
We’re a close-knit, high-performing team united by a shared commitment to exceptional service and lasting client relationships. We’ve been named one of the Hartford Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in Connecticut — your voice matters, your work makes an impact, and the people around you hold themselves to a high standard.
About This Role
This is a client ownership role. Our Business Development team opens doors and brings opportunities in — from there, you take the lead. You’ll drive competitive pursuits, present solutions, and win work across commercial, healthcare, and education clients. When you win, you own the relationship: the ongoing work, the day-to-day service, and the long-term growth of that account.
You’ll quarterback a cross-functional team of design, pre-sale, and project coordination experts — working together across product selection, specifications, proposals, and execution. You set the strategy, align the team, and own the outcome.
This role is right for you if you’re energized by competing to win, comfortable leading a room, and disciplined enough to ensure accuracy on everything that goes out under your name. This isn’t just a relationship role — the work is genuinely complex, the expectations are high, and the person who thrives here takes pride in both.
What You’ll Do
Client Relationships & Account Growth
· Take the lead on competitive pursuits brought in by BD — present, win, and own the relationship from there
· Act as the primary point of contact — the client’s advocate and main voice at Interscape
· Lead client meetings, workplace tours, and solution presentations with confidence
· Identify and pursue upsell, cross-sell, and strategic growth opportunities within existing accounts
· Cultivate strong ongoing relationships with clients and industry partners
Sales Execution & Project Leadership
· Drive opportunities from discovery through signed order — strategic advisor, presenter, and closer
· Set pricing strategy and make all margin decisions on your accounts
· Quarterback the cross-functional team on each opportunity — aligning design, pre-sale, and coordination resources
· Manage and track multiple projects at varying stages simultaneously
· Proactively identify risks, changes, or roadblocks and address them before they become problems
Quoting, Specifications & Order Management
· Handle routine and moderately complex quotes independently, accurately, and on time
· Create and manage quotes, specifications, and purchase orders with speed and precision
· Coordinate with manufacturer reps, logistics teams, and operations on timely delivery
· Oversee punch list and closeout processes with thorough attention to detail
Communication & Documentation
· Own all internal and external communication on your accounts
· Maintain thorough, current records in CRM, project tracking software, and shared file systems
· Document meeting notes, action items, and decisions — and follow through consistently
· Ensure every deliverable meets the A.C.T. standard: Accurate, Complete, Timely
Who You Are
· A relationship builder who thinks in accounts, not transactions — you know your clients’ business and feel genuine responsibility for the outcome
· A confident presenter who leads a room with mixed stakeholders and fields hard questions without flinching
· Highly organized and detail-oriented — you catch your own errors and follow through on every commitment
· Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with high expectations — complexity is motivating, not draining
· A natural team coordinator — you align people and resources without needing authority over them
· Naturally curious, proactive, and always looking for ways to improve
What You Bring
· 3–7 years of experience in B2B account management, sales, or client services
· A track record of building genuine, lasting client relationships — not just managing transactions
· Confidence presenting to mixed decision-maker groups: facilities directors, CFOs, design teams
· Comfort with technical complexity — products, configurations, pricing, and proposals
· Experience in commercial interiors, architectural products, AV integration, flooring, or a similarly complex B2B sales environment is preferred but not required for the right person
· Strong technical aptitude — CRM platforms, quoting systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
· A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Connecticut
What You’ll Love About Interscape
