JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Project Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineer Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:

This position plays a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and monitoring project engineering functions. You will be responsible for overseeing engineering projects, processes, and timelines and making any necessary adjustments to ensure the successful completion of a project. Successfully manage the creation of all components and processes necessary to complete an engineering project on time.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create and verify layout, detail, load, structural drawings, schematics, and equipment orders as applicable to the project.
2. Plan equipment layout, material flow, and measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of resources and equipment on projects as assigned
3. Works with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of material handling equipment and solutions as required in support of project needs. Integrates findings and concepts into design recommendations on projects assigned.
4. May potentially direct and coordinate the building of prototypes. Confers with research and other engineers to clarify and resolve problems found during execution; prepares design modifications, as appropriate.
5. Support Installation with instructions and drawings
6. Adhere to a schedule to ensure all engineering tasks are completed on time
7. Support Installation with technical expertise for field modifications.
8. Creation of Engineering Process Tasks for all Projects.
9. Assist with Corrective Actions for customer complaints.
10. Utilize ERP Systems to release designs to production that meet customer requirements.
11. Performs a variety of calculations (e.g. to compute angles, weights, dimensions, etc) and prepares detailed multi-view drawings based on engineering data and standard references.
12. Accountable for all aspects of the project components from start to completion
13. Transform conceptual drawings into final engineered installation drawings
14. Build equipment list and issue purchase orders for project components
15. Work with project management and install teams with on-site support
16. Ensure robust design reviews are conducted to improve the quality of output in engineering
17. Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2. Communication (facilitation and mature communication skills to be able to communicate to all areas of the project team and client when necessary).
3. Possess basic proficiency in one more or software programs including knowledge of SharePoint, SAP, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Solid knowledge of programs like Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Microsoft Teams.
4. 3 years of engineering experience, ideally in the material handling industry or other industrial applications.
5. Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems.
6. Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the sorter project team on track.
7. Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
8. Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience.
