Qualifications:
2 plus years experience installing fiber and coax to the home (preferred), ONT and router installation, WIFI, phone service and video for Internet Service Providers. You must be a responsible self starter with the ability to work independently.
Other Requirements:
Must have reliable truck/van with 28' extension ladder (V rung and Hooks) on ladder rack, cones, safety belt and lanyard (all PPE: hard hat, safety vest),standard fiber terminating and testing equipment, 500' conduit rodder, telecom tools, drills, bits, wall fish (all hand tools). Must have General Insurance (REQUIRED).
Job Description:
This is a 1099 independent contractor position with competitive piece-rate compensation and steady install volume. The FTTH Installation Technician is responsible for the end-to-end installation, activation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic services for residential and small business customers.
Technicians perform site surveys, run and splice fiber drops, inside wiring, install optical network terminals (ONTs), configure customer premises equipment, and verify service performance to meet company and industry standards. The position requires strong technical expertise in fiber optic systems, including splicing, testing, and signal validation using specialized equipment. Technicians must be able to perform quality work that is neat and up to the ISP's standards for QC.
This role also serves as a key customer-facing position, requiring clear communication, professionalism, and the ability to educate customers on their services and equipment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality connectivity.
