Position Overview
The EWP Technician I is responsible for preparing engineered wood product layouts and supporting documentation using computerized drafting systems. This entry-level role focuses on learning company design standards, engineered wood product applications, and drafting procedures while assisting the EWP team with residential framing layouts. Work assignments are structured and reviewed by senior team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with local code requirements.

Essential Functions
- Create basic engineered wood product layouts using company-approved design software and drafting tools.
- Assist in preparing joist and beam layouts based on architectural plans and specifications.
- Interpret construction drawings and customer-provided information to produce accurate layout packages.
- Convert design specifications into drawings with appropriate dimensions and section views.
- Prepare quotes of materials and supporting documentation for completed drawings.
- Process basic residential layouts under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Review completed drawings with senior team members prior to release.
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure designs align with manufacturing and installation requirements.
- Support revisions and adjustments to layouts based on customer feedback or field conditions.
- Prepare accurate quotes using the ERP system (BisTrack or similar), ensuring pricing, material lists, and project details are properly entered and aligned with design outputs.
- Maintain familiarity with company drafting standards, procedures, and safety practices.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support IWP’s Vision, advance its Mission, and uphold the Organization’s Values.
Qualifications and Experience
- Formal drafting training or equivalent experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of PrebuiltML X, AutoCAD or design software required.
- Experience with CSD or similar design software preferred.
