Chainsaw Operator

Position Overview

The Chainsaw Operator is responsible for performing general warehouse duties with a primary focus on operating a chainsaw to make precise cuts for Engineered Wood Product orders. This role supports order fulfillment, material handling, and safe warehouse operations. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to operate powered industrial equipment in a fast-paced yard environment.

Essential Functions

• Operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently for extended periods to complete precise material cuts.
• Read and interpret production schedules, customer orders, work orders, and shipping documents.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of materials received, processed, and distributed.
• Load, unload, move, and store materials using a forklift or other approved equipment safely.
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in designated storage areas according to product specifications.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and prepare materials for shipment.
• Keep designated work areas stocked, organized and clean.
• Use banding, shrink wrap, and other packaging equipment as required.
• Follow and comply with all company procedures and state and federal safety regulations.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support IWP’s Vision, advance its Mission, and uphold the Organization’s Values.

Qualifications and Experience

• Forklift experience required; minimum one (1) year preferred.
• Ability to safely operate a chainsaw and warehouse equipment.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position operates in a transportation and warehouse environment with regular exposure to weather. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, see, hear, and communicate. This requires frequent use of hands, arms and legs, and regular lifting of 50 pounds, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
