The Development Director will have the opportunity to build experience in a nonprofit fundraising environment and contribute to making a positive impact on global animal welfare and human wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

●     Aggressive Prospecting: Conduct a high volume of prospect calls weekly to cultivate new relationships and re-engage lapsed donors.

●     Corporate Partnerships: Lead the outreach for event sponsorships and annual corporate partners. During event seasons, drive a targeted campaign of daily outreach to secure revenue goals.

●     Portfolio Management: Manage a personal portfolio of top-tier donors. Execute monthly stewardship outreach (coffees, lunches, site visits) to the organization's top stakeholders to deepen engagement.

●     Legacy & Planned Giving: Spearhead a legacy program, identifying estate gift prospects and ensuring the accurate recognition of endowment and legacy gifts.

Innovative Stewardship & Operations:

●     Tech-Enabled Donor Journeys: Oversee the integrity of the CRM (currently DonorPerfect). Transform data into action by utilizing "hotlists" for direct mail and creating automated task workflows for donor thank-you calls and touchpoints.

●     Rapid Response Outreach: Monitor incoming donations daily. Ensure all $500 donors receive personal, signed acknowledgment letters and phone calls within 48 hours.

●     Grant Oversight: Facilitate monthly strategy meetings with the Grant Writer. Specific goals will be determined.

Leadership & Team Development:

●     Executive Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive development reports (pipeline progress, marketing performance, event revenue) for the CEO and the Board of Directors.

Community Visibility & Marketing Research:

●     Public Representation: Serve as the face of IVO at key community networking events.

●     Marketing Oversight: Evaluation of marketing deliverables (graphics, emails, promotional content) to ensure they effectively support fundraising calls-to-action.

●     Coordinate meetings with donors and help with donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.

●     Assist in researching and identifying potential funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships and prospective donors.

●     Assist in writing grant proposals and preparing grant applications.

●     Assist in preparing donor communications, such as prospecting letters, newsletters and donation acknowledgement letters.

●     Assist in planning and executing fundraising and donor acquisition events, such as galas and auctions.

●     Manage the donor database and ensure accurate and up-to-date records.

●     Collaborate with other departments, such as IVO’s Events-Marketing Subcommittee, to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.

We have integrated the following modern requirements to attract a forward-thinking candidate:

●     Data-Driven storytelling: The ability to translate "State of IVO" statistics into compelling donor narratives for newsletters and board presentations.

●     Multichannel Communication: Experience leveraging video messages, text-to-give platforms, and social media retargeting to complement traditional phone/mail outreach.

●     Community-Centric Fundraising: A philosophy that prioritizes building community trust and reciprocal relationships over purely transactional donation requests.

Requirements:

●     Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

●     Passion for animal welfare and commitment to the organization's mission.

●     A minimum of three years of fundraising experience with nonprofit organizations.

●     Strong public speaking skills and ability to engage with high-net-worth individuals and corporate leaders.

●     Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

●     Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.

●     Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

●     Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.

●     Flexibility to travel to partners as needed.

●     Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and DonorPerfect.

What You will Gain:

●      The opportunity to build and grow a high visibility and vital position within IVO.

●      Lead the effort for meaningful global impact to animal welfare.

●      Direct influence in shaping programs, partnerships, and policies.

●      Connection with a global team of doctors, educators and humanitarians.

Salary Range and Featured benefits:
