CPOSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting in the oversight of internal and external financial reporting and compliance with responsibilities to include, managing auditor relationships; developing appropriate policies and procedures; working within financial systems and ensuring proper internal control design, while maintaining compliance with GAAP.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the preparation of periodic and year-end Financial Statements and analysis.
- Collaborate within the department to provide Financial Statements to Executive Staff.
- Support the financial closing process for all accounting functions including general accounting, revenue accounting, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.
- Ensure Financial Statements are prepared in a timely and accurate manner in conformance with GAAP.
- Provide detailed analysis of financial performance and variances; ensure that all account reconciliation and General Ledger Journal Entries are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor and control the proper operation of the A/R and A/P functions; preparation of operating and capital budgets and review staff work to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Facilitate, coordinate, and supervise the daily cash flow needs of the corporation, including management of the various lines of credit and applicable interest rate, borrowing base compliance, covenant compliance and letters of credit.
- Maintain daily operations by monitoring check disbursements, cash flows, and sales.
- Work to optimize cash flow and if required, initiate strategies for improvement.
- Interface with company’s external tax/audit firm, insurance firms, banks, etc.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Manage the performance and development of staff through coaching and mentoring as needed (A/P, A/R, G/L staff) including union staff.
- Schedules, plans, directs, and supervises the union staff.
- Ensures union work product is accurate and timely.
- Service delivery is professional and courteous.
- Promotes and fosters a professional work environment.
- Administers the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Responsibilities may include;
· Interview and hire potential union candidate(s).
· Coordinate and provide union all necessary information to perform their duties.
· Schedule workflow and overtime rotation for union employees.
· Approve vacation and other time-off requests for union employees.
· Compile and submit daily union attendance report to other departments.
- Any other duties, as necessary.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university is required.
· CPA designation is a plus.
· 8 - 10 years of relevant experience is required, with 2 - 4 years of work experience in public accounting preferable.
· A minimum of 5 years in a formal leadership role is necessary.
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles required.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
· Broad knowledge of business operations and aptitude to get involved hands-on.
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
· Close attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and superior problem-solving skills.
· Team player who builds effective working relationships.
· Ability to work independently.
· Able to operate PC-based software programs including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to effectively analyze, apply and communicate policies, procedures, and regulations.

· Ability to climb stairs and traverse uneven surfaces.
