About the Role
ISS is seeking a Sr. Accountant – Foundations to play an important role in supporting and growing our Foundation Program. This position will provide comprehensive accounting services to our foundation clients, help strengthen and maintain existing client relationships, and deliver the responsive, high-quality customer service our clients expect. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys building client relationships, providing exceptional service, and contributing to the continued growth of a program.
Salary range is $55,000 - $65,000. This is the anticipated range for this position; however, the final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors. ISS offers a comprehensive benefit package including generous paid time off, a generous company contribution to a 403(b) and comprehensive health insurance.

Location/Hours
This is a full-time, direct-hire position. The role is fully remote. Candidates must have reliable internet access and reside within the Eastern Time Zone. A regular work schedule will be established in collaboration with the supervisor. Occasional evening availability may be required to accommodate client board meetings across time zones or to meet deadlines during particularly busy periods. Evening work is not a regular expectation but is an occasional requirement of the role.
What You’ll Do – Key Responsibilities
General Accounting – Manage day-to-day accounting, including A/R, A/P and verification of daily account balances using banking software; prepare and complete month-end close activities.
Financial Statements – Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
Board Meeting Support – Assist with the preparation of materials for annual board meetings, including agendas and supporting documentation; attend board meetings and prepare meeting minutes. Use of AI tools is permitted where appropriate.
Account Reconciliations – Prepare and review reconciliations for bank, investment, credit card, and payroll accounts.
Payroll Administration – Prepare and process payroll and maintain accurate Foundation employee and payroll records.
Audit Support – Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor requests, and provide supporting documentation throughout the audit process.
Client Reporting – Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to Foundation clients, including monthly close reporting and semi-annual board reports.
Policies & Procedures – Maintain current and comprehensive procedure manuals for all Foundation clients.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum five years’ experience in the accounting field.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and familiarity with financial accounting systems.
- Basic understanding of payroll and 1099 reporting. Supporting the preparation of the annual form 990.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, QuickBooks, Tax Software.
