Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Academic background and/or practical experience in hospitality or food service.
- At least 1 year of experience in a combination of hospitality, food service, and food-oriented customer service.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an applicable field of study.

- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Essential Job Functions
Duties Related to Meal Planning, Preparation, and Service
- Perform daily food prep, including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing, using proper knife skills and safety techniques for daily meal service, including Breakfast, Lunch, and ASI Snack.
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes, menu production records, and production schedules in accordance with all health standards, with a focus on efficiency and safety.
- Safely operate kitchen equipment, including convection ovens, mixers, food processors, and slicers
- Assist with basic cooking tasks such as roasting, baking, reheating, and portioning food for student meals
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures to cook and serve meals, and hold them at appropriate temperatures for both cooking and service.
- Help ensure there is a backstock of frozen and/or shelf-stable meals on hand in case of a campus-wide emergency.
- Label, date, store, and rotate food items properly
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of prep areas, storage areas, and equipment in accordance with local and state standards.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries and promptly communicate low food and kitchen supply levels to the Meal Program Director.
- Support meal service as needed (pan-up, restocking, simple assembly, and clean-up)
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely meal service
- As required by the State of California, help ensure all excess food is donated to local nonprofit organizations.
