Settle In is a digital information platform that supports newcomers to the United States by providing clear, accessible guidance on everyday topics like housing, healthcare, education, and employment. Duration & Schedule: 4-5 months Flexible part-time schedule (10–15 hours per week), ideally aligned with an academic term. This is an unpaid internship structured for educational benefit and skill development. Training Activities & Educational Assignments Under the supervision of the Content Creation Team the intern will: Shadow team members to observe content development, editing, and publishing processes. Assist in drafting and revising short-form content (e.g., blog posts, scripts, or social media drafts) as guided learning exercises. Conduct informational interviews with staff or stakeholders to learn about storytelling approaches or research for assignments. Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and content reviews to gain exposure to collaborative planning. Complete a final project (e.g., a sample communication piece or portfolio item) that integrates lessons learned throughout the internship. Supervision & Evaluation The intern will be assigned a dedicated mentor for regular feedback and guidance. Progress will be evaluated based on learning objectives The internship is designed to complement academic studies and may qualify for academic credit, depending on university requirements. Learning Objectives: Gain hands-on experience in digital content creation for a multilingual, multicultural audience. Develop skills in plain language writing, storytelling, and inclusive communication. Learn about refugee resettlement and the role of digital tools in supporting newcomer integration. Build familiarity with editorial workflows, content management systems, and user-centered design. Eligibility: Current student or recent graduate in communications, journalism, or a related field. Must be able to provide documentation from an academic institution This is an unpaid internship position. No financial compensation, including compensation for relocation, is available.
