Job Title: Tier 1, VoIP Engineer

We are looking for a qualified VoIP network engineer to participate in the management of our voice infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating installations, upgrades, and migrations along with managing SLAs for IP telephony systems. You will be required to troubleshoot LAN and WAN hardware, provide tier 2 support to other team members for VoIP related items, respond to customer inquiries, and provide onsite assistance with both network/voice related issues and day-to-day helpdesk tasks as needed.
The perfect candidate for this position should be well rounded, having experience in other systems and solutions beyond those of VoIP technologies, as well as a background in basic helpdesk support. Familiarity with administering Active Directory, Office365, VMWare (or other virtualization Hypervisors), storage management, cloud-base access control and video surveillance systems, Cloud hosting administration (AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure), and both Windows and Linux server operating systems is advantageous.
This is an in-office position. Remote work may be required from time to time including maintenance weekends, as-needed on-call support, or in case of emergency.
Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship.
Starting salary will be $85,000/yr, up to $100,000/yr with applicable experience. Compensation packages include 401k, PTO, multiple healthcare options, vision, and dental.
VoIP Network Engineer Responsibilities:
- Meeting with IT managers to determine the company’s networking and voice needs.
- Managing existing VoIP networks and computer systems and providing troubleshooting.
- Installing, replacing and/or repairing cabling or hardware including switches, routers, and servers.
- Administer network security systems and protocols, including internal/guest WiFi services, physical access control and security systems, and edge routing protocols.
- Optimizing network installations for future expansion.
- Training staff on VoIP network and system protocols and procedures.
- Managing on-prem and cloud directories including adding/removing users and setting permissions.
- Assist in day-to-day operations, including executing tasks and responsibilities as a tier 2/3 member of the helpdesk team.
- Assist with managing servers, updates and upgrades.
- Other duties as assigned.
VoIP Network Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a similar field.
- Minimum 3 years working in Information Technology.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a VoIP network engineer.
- In-depth knowledge of VoIP systems, LAN/WAN architecture, and various related network protocols.
- Knowledge of hardware systems including servers, memory modules, processors, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of network security solutions and software.
- Good project management skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English. Fluency in additional languages are a plus.
