What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scale Operator position at International Paper and Careers?
Responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with scale operation
- Responsible for preparation and accuracy of all paper work associated with outbound loads
Operate weighing scales and related equipment to accurately measure and accurately record the weight of materials
Create and maintain accurate records of all inbound and outbound recycle materials
Write up and enter scale tickets, resolving any issues with weights and grades
Ensure all inbound, outbound loads are tracked and recorded
Ensure proper truck weights are accurate and recorded in MRS system
Maintain logs and various reporting of scale logs and scale activity
Set up transportation for inbound and outbound loads as requested by traffic lead
Coordinate with ship lines for release of equipment and issues with container bookings
Enter customer pickup request in cieTrade system
Perform quick scheduling with dispatcher
Work with Sales Representatives to resolve any discrepancies while ensuring customer needs are met
Correspond with internal and external customers regarding pick up requests and/or confirmations, changes to pick up schedules, and provide customers Truck ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) related information
Perform general administrative tasks, such as filing paperwork, assisting with cieTrade and answering phone calls, as needed
Provide coverage and serve as back-up/point of contact for the shipping/receiving coordinator and traffic lead
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards
- Participate in process improvement activities to reduce errors and improve customer satisfaction
Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

- Ability of use computers on daily basis to perform simple tasks of email communication, use of company multi-line phone system, use of fax/copier machines, and d ata entry on company’s software and MS Office suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred)
- Ability to enter accurate data into the system, including, reviewing work and detect mistakes before submitting information into the system
- Familiarity with cieTrade specialized software (preferred)
- Experience operating weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, cashier responsibilities and record keeping (preferred)
