Title: Business Intelligence Senior Data Engineer
Location: 9200 Keystone Crossing, Suite 800, Indianapolis, IN 46240
Duties: Responsible for the hands-on analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and operational reporting and analysis tools. Play a key role in AI solutions such as Machine Learning (ML), Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Large Language Model (LLM) technology implementations. Provide business partners with visibility into the data and information needed to make key business decisions, and to increase operational efficiencies. Conduct requirements analysis and solution design for business intelligence reporting and data delivery to end users. Data analysis and mapping. ETL and reporting solution development. Code reviews and coaching on best practices for AI tools evaluations, POCs, solution design, development, and implementations. Dev Ops responsibilities for source controls and code deployments. Adherence to IMG standards and development best practices. Review and revise queries for performance issues. Share support responsibilities for the Production BI Reporting Environment. Represent the BI development team at change control meetings and ensure that all scheduled releases have gone through an adequate test process and deployment instructions are clear and accurate. Communicate regularly with team members to escalate issues, report status of requests, and identify opportunities for improvements. Help create ad-hoc queries and provide data as requested, with a goal of transitioning to self-serve. Assist the team with the development of a Data Dictionary. Work with business partners on data analytics to help identify key opportunities. Coach and mentor teammates. Position is based in Indianapolis, IN office; however, telecommuting from a home office is allowed. Hybrid work arrangement required for at least first 2 years of employment.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Mathematics, Business, or a related field plus six (6) years of experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer, or a related occupation involving experience in business intelligence.
Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:
Four (4) years in the following:
- Delivering business intelligence or data warehousing solutions
- Developing reporting and analysis solutions using MS tools, SSRS, SSAS, PowerPivot, PerformancePoint, Power BI, or Excel, on a SQL Server platform
- ETL design, development, and support using SSIS
Two (2) years in the following:
- Designing and building enterprise data and BI solutions including dimensional data marts or star schema data modeling and design
- Developing Machine Learning (ML) solutions using tools such as Python or similar
- Developing Large Language Model (LLM) solutions using tools such as AWS Bedrock, Claude, or similar
- Working with OCR technology implementations.
