Job Overview:
Major job responsibilities include the conversion of jumbo rolls of armor tape into multiple pads of tape with varying widths. This job requires mechanical aptitude with understanding and skill in machine set up and operation, use of calipers and measuring tape and careful material handling. This position requires the daily operation of a fork truck as well as excellent attention to details.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Must be able to drive a fork truck (as part of daily activities) and /or obtain fork truck certification.
· Understand and follow production schedules with the ability to effectively manage priorities and changes in priorities.
· Must be able to identify and select the correct jumbo in accordance with the work order.
· Visually inspect jumbos for incoming quality and determine if defects or anomalies must be removed prior to loading on machine.
· Set up and operate machines according to documented work instructions.
· Convert materials in accordance to specific work orders to meet IMG customer needs using sound judgment in the operation of equipment and assessment of product quality.
· Understand customer specifications and tolerances for armor tape and run materials in accordance with those requirements.
· Measure and verify bar set ups to assure correct spacing and knife configuration prior to running material using ruler and calipers.
· Quality check of slit pads: measure and record widths of slit pads to assure the correct widths have been achieved.
· Visually inspect pads for any defect during processing and as finished pads to assure pads meet specifications and are defect free.
· Issue Non conforming tags for rejected material when material is determined to not meet the acceptable quality level.
· Complete all paperwork properly to maintain product identification and traceability by recording jumbo id’s correctly and matching it to the correct material.
· Must have strong attention to detail.
· Work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Duties:
· Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management. Follow all rules and regulations including wearing protective gear (glasses, gloves, shoes, etc) as required by IMG’s Safety Policy.
· Maintain a clean and safe Slitting work area keeping the machine and hand held equipment in good working order.
- Operate machinery correctly and maintain it with care. Report machine / equipment issues to management promptly.
· Clean common areas of use including but not limited to the break room, employee locker room, conference room, etc. as assigned by management.
· Keep tools and equipment clean and in proper working order.
- Work cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals.
- Be available to work overtime occasionally, including nights and weekends as production demands dictate. (Note: overtime may be necessary during high order demand periods but most production is achieved with longer work shifts rather than weekend shifts).
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management to achieve continuous flow of the production process.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· 1 year experience working in manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
· Able to read and write in English.
· Familiar with Metric and English measurements with capabilities of using calipers and rulers.
· Capable of reading and understanding work instructions and safety documents.
· Physically capable of manual labor that includes lifting, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift 50 pounds (for short bursts).
· Able to work 9-10 hour shifts standing.
· Attendance must be reliable and punctual.
· Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude.
Compensation:
· Full Time Employment
· Non-exempt
This Job start at 19.50/hr., plus medical, dental and vision insurance after 60 days.
