Job Title: Painter
This position is available at our Kittery, ME location.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Painter to join our team. As a Painter, you will assist in surface preparation, mixing of paint, application of coating, striping, and clean up.
You will work under the supervision of a Paint Foreman and be responsible for ensuring surfaces are prepared for coating according to paint manufacturers' specifications. You must work within OSHA requirements relative to the shipbuilding industry and comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations.
Essential Job Requirements:
- Prepare surfaces for coating according to paint manufacturers' specifications;
- Paint surfaces using approved methods;
- Strip tanks in a productive and timely manner;
- Mix paint as directed;
- Accurately operate, clean, and maintain all assigned equipment;
- Properly store equipment;
- Dispose of empty paint and solvent cans appropriately;
- Properly store and take appropriate precautions for paint and solvents as directed by supervisor;
- Knowledgeable in checking wet film mil (WFT) thickness being applied;
- Assist sprayers in pulling lines;
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl at various heights and in confined spaces;
- Regularly required to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
- Required use of vision to see up close, distance, and peripherally, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus in low light conditions.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, close proximity to other employees.

Requirements:
- Formal or informal on the job training;
- Two years of experience in the application of coatings in the marine industry;
- Ability to take direction and work cooperatively and productively with other employees and shipyard personnel;
- Must be able to follow clean shaven policy.
