Support Services for Students
This role involves providing support services for students under the guidance of a certified teacher. The position requires a strong understanding of instructional methods and materials, as well as excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; working with individual students or small groups.
- Preparing instructional materials and classroom displays under the teacher's supervision.
- Assisting with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
- Supporting the teacher in record-keeping and report preparation.
- Providing orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Supervising students during the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Making the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participating in staff development training programs to enhance job performance.
- Attending faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Carrying out additional tasks as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- 48 Earned College Credits, Associates degree, Bachelors and/or Masters Degree at a U.S Department of Education recognized accredited institution of higher learning (Preferred)
- OR High School Diploma if formal academic assessment is passed as required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Experience working with children
- Effective communication skills
