Job Title: Irrigation Technician Exemption Status/Test: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $22-$26.00
Primary Purpose:
Operates, maintains and repairs existing irrigation systems to ensure adequate moisture for plantings. Sets and maintains automatic irrigation systems to run systematically according to the landscape care program. Installs and repairs irrigation systems including but not limited to sprinkler heads, fittings, valves, water lines and irrigation control and wiring. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Unrestricted Driver's License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their inner workings
- Ability to conduct on-site inspection of charter facilities
- Knowledge and the ability to operate and maintain a variety of sprinkler systems
- Knowledge and understanding of state and local codes.
- The ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
Experience:
One year of work experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform preventive maintenance on irrigation and sprinkler systems; inspect systems for proper operation; troubleshoot existing problems and assist in complex remedies.
2. Provide technical expertise and manual labor for installation of new irrigation systems or expansions of existing systems, maintenance activities and repairs on existing irrigation and sprinkler systems.
3. Assist in the design and layout of new irrigation systems; assist in the development of specification and requisitioning supplies and parts of irrigation system maintenance; make period inventory of supplies and notify supervisors of needed materials.
4. Maintain related records and drawings of irrigation systems in place on the property and keep them updated regularly.
5. Digging trenches and laying pipes to create efficient irrigation systems.
6. Installing pumps, backflow control devices, and advanced controllers.
7. Repairing leaks and adjusting sprinkler heads to ensure optimal performance.
8. Troubleshooting electrical components to keep systems running smoothly.
9. Technician handles plumbing and electrical systems within the irrigation responsibilities.
10. Occasionally, will be called on to operate heavy machinery.
11. On-Call to respond to emergencies, 24 hours a day may include nights and holidays.
12. All other duties as assigned.
