Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Marine Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Assistant, where you will play a vital role in promoting a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace within the maritime and manufacturing sectors. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to environmental management systems, workplace safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance efforts. You will support the implementation of health and safety protocols, conduct hazard assessments, and assist in training programs to ensure the well-being of all personnel and protection of marine environments. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help foster a culture of safety excellence across our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems aligned with industry standards such as EPA regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and environmental audits to identify potential risks related to hazardous materials, workplace safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Support training and development initiatives by delivering safety briefings, CPR/First Aid training, and OSHA compliance sessions to employees.
  • Help investigate incidents through root cause analysis, prepare detailed report writing, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations including hazardous materials regulations and environmental health standards across all operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training logs, and compliance documentation for regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote occupational health practices that prioritize employee well-being while ensuring legal compliance with workers' compensation law and other regulatory standards.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance standards such as EPA regulations and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial environments with a focus on workplace safety and hazardous materials management.
  • Certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA safety standards, and environmental management systems are highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and develop effective corrective action plans.
  • Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail for incident documentation and compliance reporting.
  • Familiarity with occupational health principles, environmental health practices, and workers' compensation law.
  • Effective training & development skills to educate staff on safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Pay: $25.29 - $30.46 per hour
