Material Handler

Overview
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, staging, organizing, and supplying aluminum materials throughout the extrusion process. This role directly impacts production flow, efficiency, and safety.

Duties

• Keep production lines fed
• Stage materials based on production schedules and priorities
• Remove completed loads quickly to prevent backups
• Track material locations (WIP, finished goods, scrap)
• Maintain clean, organized staging areas (this is where most people get sloppy)
• Label, tag, and verify materials correctly to avoid costly mix-ups
• Inspect materials during handling for visible defects (bends, scratches, contamination)
• Prevent damage during transport—bad handling = wasted production
• Follow proper stacking and spacing procedures
• Communicate constantly with press operators, supervisors, and packing teams
• Adjust priorities in real time based on production demands
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks when needed
• Follow all plant safety rules, especially around hot metal and moving equipment
• Maintain awareness of surroundings—this environment will hurt you if you’re careless
• Use proper PPE at all times

Physical & Work Demands

• Constant standing, walking, lifting, and equipment operation
• Handling heavy and long aluminum profiles
• Exposure to heat (especially near the press), noise, and industrial hazards
• Fast-paced, high-pressure environment where mistakes are visible immediately

Pay: $17.00 per hour
