Company Description International Commission (IC) is a global ministry focused on partnering with local churches to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples among unbelievers. IC enlists churches to send teams for evangelism and discipleship initiatives worldwide and equips believers to engage in national-to-national partnerships within their own countries. The organization provides training and materials for prayer, evangelism, and follow-up, supporting effective and sustainable ministry efforts. IC maintains an active presence on social media, offering updates and resources for those interested in its mission and work.


Role Description The Director of Development is responsible for leading and executing all fundraising activities to secure partnership and financial support for the organization's mission and strategic goals. The Director of Development will partner with the Leadership Team of International Commission (IC) to establish development priorities and a revenue-generating strategy for IC. Implement strategy and manage the budget that supports it. Work with Leadership Team to plan and execute short and long-term fundraising and business development strategies, projections, and performance targets to meet goals for annual operating income, special initiatives, and reserve funds, renewing and increasing levels of support and diversifying sources and types of revenue. Actively support the resource development process, contributing to the development of a compelling case for support and strategies for effective solicitations. 


Essential Position Functions 

       Work with the Leadership Team to perform the following functions: 

  • Design development strategy for IC: Identify funds needed, preferred funding targets, and approaches. 
  • Fundraising: Conduct research, prospecting, and application to multiple donor sources. Manage fundraising campaigns, engaging, and overseeing ongoing development efforts. 
  • Build a robust donor base: Develop and maintain key long-term relationships with existing and former donors and prospective new donors. 
  • Communicate and train: Train and mentor development staff and communicate fundraising goals and progress throughout IC. 
  • Form and manage development team: Form and lead the IC development team. 
  • Maintain Strategy and Portfolios: Develop and maintain both the strategy and the portfolios for donor development. Review four times a year. 
  • Donor Visits: Establish and attend donor visits, schedules, purpose, etc.  


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including annual giving and planned giving, with a record of achieving or exceeding revenue goals.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy best practices and donor cultivation, including major gifts and long-term giving strategies.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial planning, and monitoring development-related income and expenses.
  • Ability to design and implement comprehensive development plans that integrate fundraising, donor relations, and communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to groups and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience using donor management or CRM systems and basic data analysis to inform strategy and measure outcomes.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with executive leadership, staff, and volunteers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, business, communications, or related discipline), or equivalent experience.
  • Background in faith-based or nonprofit organizations and alignment with IC’s mission and values is highly beneficial.
