How You'll Contribute to Our Success
As a Food Technician Intern, you will collaborate with our R&D and Culinary teams to drive the development and refinement of our fermentation-based ingredients. Leveraging your passion for Food Science/Culinology and hands-on experimentation, you will uncover new ways to optimize ingredient functionality across diverse food and beverage applications. This internship offers the chance to expand your technical expertise, deepen your understanding of industrial ingredients, and contribute to the continued growth of a global leader in fermentation technology.
What You’ll Do as a Food Technician Intern
- Competitive Analysis & Ingredient Optimization
- Evaluate competitor samples to identify sensory characteristics and determine optimal Biospringer product matches
- Perform formulation calculations to adjust for factors like salt content and nutritional profiles
- Recipe Development & Evaluation
- Assist in designing recipe formulation trials and document detailed sensory observations
- Compile comprehensive evaluation reports to inform product enhancements
- Database Management
- Maintain and organize our electronic formulation database, ensuring recipes are easily accessible
- Operational Support
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the Culinary Center functions efficiently, including cleaning, stocking, and organizing
- Other duties as assigned
Pay Rate: $20/hr; additional housing and/or commute coverage for non-local candidates will be discussed on a case-by-case basis during the interview process
Required qualifications:
- Sophomore year or later, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher within a science major, preferably in Food Science or Culinology
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of kitchen/lab best practices to ensure food safety
- Proven ability to stay organized and record data with detail orientation
- Demonstrates basic lab skills, such as measuring, using a scale, follow formulas, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft operating software programs (such as Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Share Point, and Power Point)
- Ability to travel occasionally for training, trade shows, or sales visits
- Ability to work onsite 5 days per week at our facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
