This is a full-time medical secretary/front end position in a fast-paced, internal medicine office located in Brighton, near Monroe Community College. Work Schedule:
Monday: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
Tuesday: OFF
Wednesday: 7:30am - 4:30 pm
Thursday: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
Friday: 7:30am - 4:30 pm
Medical Secretary Responsibilities:
Works as the physician’s main contact and representative to patients, family members, outside physicians. Perform secretarial duties in support of general medical office activities, working as part of the practice care team with the goal of patient satisfaction while maintaining an efficient and effective operation.
Other:
Comply with OSHA guidelines in the workplace. May be called upon to perform other activities as necessary to maintain office efficiency.
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent communication, organizational and multitasking skills
- Prior experience as a medical secretary or similar administrative position
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Prior experience with EHR systems - EPIC preferred
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA requirements
- High school diploma: additional training in Medical Administration or experience as Medical Secretary is a plus

Work Location: In person
- Receive and greet all patients and visitors in a professional, cheerful manner. Confirm patient demographics and scan insurance card.
- Complete patients check out involving charge entry, collect and enter payments, make the next appointment, print the Clinical Summary, help with appointments outside our office.
- Manage telephone communication including triaging patient phone calls, responding to routine questions, document all patient interaction in the medical record.
- Maintain the patient schedule to promote smooth flow of patients seen on any day, reserving the appropriate number of appointments for same day availability.
- Complete referrals and prior authorizations as needed.
- Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the patient encouraging them to relax and know that everyone in the practice is here to help them.
