What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Educational Aide - 4 Day Instructional Week position at Intermediate?
Primary Purpose:
Provide instructional assistance and support to Emergent Bilingual students in grades K-12 under the guidance of a certified teacher and/or the Bilingual Specialist. Assist in the preparations of lessons, implementation of instructional strategies, and identify resources for EB students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Associate’s degree, or at least 48 hours of college coursework completed
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English
Experience:
Some experience (2 years preferable) working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
- Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays,
- Assist with translations as needed,
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Assist in the facilitation of the Summit K-12 program under the guidance of the Bilingual Specialist.
Student Management
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Make teachers aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned by the Principal and Teacher Assigned.
