Director of Special Education

The Director of Special Education is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1) special education programs for students ages 3-22.

This position serves as a liaison to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, member school districts, parents/families, and community agencies in the area of special education.

This position oversees the regulatory compliance of the Early Intervention and School-Age Special Education Programs, while ensuring students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education.

The Requirements For This Position Include

• A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience
• PDE Supervisory/Principal Certification
• Thorough knowledge of state and federal special education laws and compliance issues pertaining to Early Intervention and School-Age Programs.
  
  

This is a full-time, 12-month, Act 93 Position. The salary range for this position starts at $103,868.
