The Prescription Management Specialist serves as a supporting member of patient care delivery ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of medication-related requests. This role supports physicians, patients, pharmacies, and internal departments by coordinating prescription workflows, managing refills and requests, and resolving medication access barriers.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review incoming medication requests received through portal requests, fax and enter into the electronic medical record for processing.
- Triage medication requests to clinical care teams as appropriate.
- Complete prescription requests that fall within InterMed’s Prescription Refill Protocol
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with clinical care teams
- Collaborate with local pharmacies to clarify questions and/or concerns related to prescriptions
- Call patients to obtain or verify healthcare information
- Participate in process improvement (i.e., Lean Six Sigma, Gemba) activities
- Achieve productivity goals and performance targets in alignment with departmental standards.
- Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
- Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience:
- Clinical and/or pharmacy experience strongly preferred
- Understanding of medical terminology strongly preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred
- Proficient in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent professional judgment and decision-making ability.
- Ability to collaborate as well as work independently
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with accuracy
- Professional written and verbal communications skills
- Consistently demonstrates strong attention to detail and sound judgment
