Clinical MA Educator

SUMMARY:  

The Clinical Medical Assistant Educator, under the general direction of the Clinical Education Manager, is primarily responsible for supporting and coordinating the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Programs. This position serves as a key liaison between InterMed, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC), and the Department of Labor, supporting communication, coordination, program requirements, and alignment between the academic, clinical, and workforce components of the apprenticeship program. 

In addition to supporting the apprenticeship programs, the Clinical Medical Assistant Educator plays a key role in clinical education development, onboarding, and annual competency evaluation within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Coordinates and supports the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program, including apprentice onboarding, clinical rotations, competency development, and program progression.  
• Provides coaching, mentorship, and guidance to MA Apprentices throughout the academic, administrative and clinical components of the program. 
• Collaborates in the development and design of clinical education materials, including presentations, workflows, policies and procedures, as directed by the Clinical Education Manager. 
• Helps deliver onboarding and annual training presentations to ensure consistent clinical education across primary care departments.  
• Conducts annual competency audits on Medical Assistants including direct observation of rooming and other MA-specific workflows.   
• Utilizes various education principles and learning techniques to deploy training including instruction and support of go-to-trainers at least annually and as needed.  
• Operationalizes approved clinical processes for frontline staff.  
• Maintains accurate documentation of clinical staff training, certifications, and competencies with timely communication of expectations and deadlines to managers and go-to-trainers. 
• Researches and synthesizes current Medical Assistant guidelines and best practices published by various evidence-based sources. 
• Integrates Lean Six Sigma principles into the design implementation of clinical processes.  
• Promotes interprofessional collaboration and teamwork among departments to enhance patient care. 
• Maintains the organization of clinical resources and workflows on the Intranet. 
• Demonstrates knowledge of department protocols, policies and procedures 
• Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies. 
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, vision, and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

• Education:  
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of a Nationally Accredited Medical Assistant Program required 
• Experience: 
  • Minimum of 3 years Medical Assistant experience preferred 
  • Experience in clinical training preferred 
• License/Certifications:
  • Active Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred  
  • BLS or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire required 
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications, electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred   

The estimated compensation range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation plans above and beyond base compensation.
