Interlake Maritime Services is seeking a Marine HR Manager to support our marine workforce in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment. This role is responsible for helping ensure vessels are staffed with qualified, certified, and medically fit personnel while supporting a broad range of marine HR functions, including crewing, recruiting, compliance, training coordination, travel support, and employee relations. Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day HR management of marine personnel for an assigned vessel group.
- Help ensure vessels are staffed with qualified, properly credentialed, and medically fit mariners.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and participation in recruiting events.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and system updates in ADP and NS.
- Track licenses, certifications, medical fitness, and training compliance.
- Coordinate employee schedules, vacation coverage, relief planning, and long-term staffing needs.
- Arrange travel, including flights, hotels, and rental cars, in accordance with company policy.
- Process travel expenses and reimbursements for marine employees.
- Support compliance with drug and alcohol testing requirements as a Designated Employer Representative.
- Partner with marine operations leadership on performance, conduct, discipline, and workforce support.
- Participate in vessel visits, audits, process improvement efforts, and KPI development.
- Help enhance mariner satisfaction and support overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of HR Generalist or related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a union environment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or from a maritime academy preferred.

Physical and Work Requirements
This position may require occasional travel, vessel access involving climbing ladders and transiting bulwarks, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching overhead, and working in different weather and environmental conditions. PPE is required when applicable. Additional hours, including weekends, may be needed based on operational demands.
