Essential Functions
- Supervise and mentor polishing team members, ensuring adherence to company standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for polishing-related inquiries and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with other department leads to ensure timely completion of polishing tasks for production schedules.
- Polish and seal stone fabrications while inspecting for imperfections, defects, and errors.
- Inspect slabs for cracks and ensure cuts and polishing are accurate and meet specifications.
- Perform quality control checks on all polished products to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Inspect and maintain polishing equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure team compliance with proper safety protocols and equipment usage.
- Manage materials used daily to minimize theft, waste, and loss, maximizing profitability.
- Implement and refine processes to reduce errors and improve workflow efficiency.
- Provide feedback to team members to enhance skills and ensure consistent quality.
- Ensure team adherence to all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Report and track all injuries and incidents in compliance with company procedures.
- Accurately complete timecards and required documentation for team members.
- Participate in and facilitate required training sessions for the polishing team.
- Maintain accurate records of production and equipment inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum of three years of polishing experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Expertise with equipment such as edge polishers, hand tools, CNCs, and routers.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to identify and resolve defects or errors in polishing processes.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills to train and manage team members.
- Intermediate mathematical skills to ensure precision in cuts and measurements.
- Bilingual experience preferred (English/Spanish).
- Forklift certification preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents, training materials, and safety protocols.
- Ability to write reports and communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Frequent standing, walking, crouching, and reaching above and below waist level.
- Ability to navigate hazardous conditions in a fabrication shop environment.
- Must be able to lift and move materials safely with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
