Interior Exterior Building Supply, the number one commercial and residential building material supplier in the Southeast, is searching for a Purchasing Assistant for our Corporate Office in New Orleans, LA!
In this role, you will be responsible for fulfilling orders in the most profitable and expeditious manner. You must be comfortable with the entire order cycle: making dozens of calls per day to suppliers, managing back orders, expediting orders, and seeing them through to shipment and completion.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with employees regarding the status of their orders and obtain approval for items on extended backorder with suppliers.
- Investigate problem orders and/or returns and monitor until issues are resolved.
- Prepares purchase orders and reviews requisitions for goods and services.
- Maintain organized purchase order and receiving documentation files.
- Review inventory and purchasing needs and negotiate and secure the best price, quality, and prompt delivery of products.
- Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as Pricing, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Issues purchase orders to suppliers and confirm delivery date, quantity ordered and correct pricing.
- Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
- Review products for purchase by evaluating current inventory.
- Communicate product information to facility personnel.
- Support daily purchasing activities affecting operational performance and efficiency.
- Prepares periodic cost reconciliation reports tracking data such as supply costs.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while paying attention to detail.
- Relationship management
- Capable of managing the daily order flow process and tracking/reporting progress towards goals.
- Prior sales and customer service experience REQUIRED
- Ability to learn purchasing procedures and policies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or 3-5 years equivalent experience is REQUIRED.
- Experience with multi-site purchasing.
