What You’ll Do as a School Based Paraprofessional
- Provide direct academic and behavioral support to students with special needs, working 1-on-1 with a student or with small student groups
- Implement IEP goals and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher supervision
- Monitor student behavior during class, transitions, lunch, and recess
- Support a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom culture
- Maintain a calm, structured, and safe environment during challenging moments
- Assist students with daily living, transitions, and personal care routines as needed
- Collect, track, and record daily behavioral and academic progress data, per school requirement
Qualifications
- Experience in a classroom setting, following student’s IEPs
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Reliable transportation and commitment to consistent school day shifts
- Ability to attend in-person or online training, as required
- Smartphone with time-clock app capability
