Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the billing process for Medicare and other payers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor the status of billed and unbilled patients, effectively tracking and managing accounts receivable.
- Perform collection functions, including running aging reports, communicating with insurance companies and patients regarding outstanding balances, and updating management on account statuses.
- Identify and resolve billing issues, maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive financial operations and adherence to policies and procedures. Resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing errors.
- Submit corrected claims and follow up with payers.
- Maintain accounts and update billing records.
- Call payers for claim status, denial details, and payment issues.
- Post payments, adjustments, and approved write-offs.
- Review remits/EOBs and research payment issues.
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage.
Minimum Education & Experience Required:
- Associate’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical billing.
- Preferred experience in home health or hospice billing, with a strong understanding of Medicare billing processes.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
