Silviculture Intern

Interfor
Chase, MD Intern
POSTED ON 10/26/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/25/2026

Silviculture Intern, Adams Lake, British Columbia
Ready to take what you’re learning in school and put it to work? At Interfor, we’re looking for future leaders who are curious, hands-on, and eager to learn. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, build practical skills, and gain a better understanding of the work that supports responsible forestry and the wood products industry. If you enjoy working outdoors, exploring forested landscapes, and seeing how field decisions support forest renewal, this internship offers the chance to turn classroom learning into practical experience.
This is an on-site internship with an anticipated start date in May. There will be occasional overnight camp stays and work in all weather conditions. The schedule is Monday-Friday and the role is roughly 80% field based, 20% office based. Ideally, you’ll be available for a 8 to 10 month term.
This work will be conducted within our operating area, which reaches from Kamloops to Blue River and Eastward past Adams Lake.
What We Offer
At Interfor, you won’t spend your internship watching from the sidelines. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and build experience you can carry into your future career. We offer competitive compensation for interns, including:
Salaries starting at $3,700 per month (based on your year in school and previous experience).
Temporary living allowance for interns moving to the area for the role.
What You’ll Do
Assist the Silviculture Team with the implementation of active projects (tree planting, site preparation, stand tending).
Take part in various silviculture surveys from Post-Harvest Assessments to Free Growing walkthroughs.
Opportunities for inter-departmental exposure in Roads and Operations.
Gain hands-on experience supporting sustainable forest management and forest regeneration activities.
Collect and analyze field data while learning how silviculture programs support healthy, productive forests.
Use GPS and mapping tools to navigate forest areas and support forestry projects.
Collaborate with forestry professionals and contractors to help monitor and support field operations.
Build technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills while gaining real-world experience in the field.
What You Offer
You are currently enrolled in a recognized university or college forestry program.
You have completed a field season or are interested in building practical silviculture experience.
You are comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with GIS or GPS technology is an asset.
You have a valid driver’s license.
You are prepared to spend considerable time outdoors in a forested environment and travel over uneven terrain.
You communicate clearly and can work effectively with employees, clients, and contractors.
