Vice President of Engineering and Procurement

Location: Central City, NE

Department: Engineering and Procurement

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Position Summary:

The VP of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of our solar projects, ensuring high-quality, optimized, and bankable designs while driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the engineering function. The position dictates a results-driven leader known for achieving operational success, fostering team collaboration, and ensuring the highest level of customer service and fiscal responsibility. This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will play a key part in shaping our technical strategy and scaling our engineering capabilities to support rapid company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Engineering team (civil, electrical, structural, and PV system design) for all phases of solar projects, from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support.
  • Oversee the development and optimization of project designs to achieve the lowest Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), highest performance, and full compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Construction, Development, and Project Management teams to ensure seamless integration across the EPC process.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key equipment vendors, technology partners, and engineering consultants (Balance of Plant, racking, inverters, modules).
  • Establish and refine engineering processes, QA/QC standards, and design best practices.
  • Stay current with evolving solar technologies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team, including hiring top talent, developing processes, and implementing best practices and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, PVcase, Civil 3D, etc.).

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (PE license strongly preferred).

· Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, ASCE, IBC, UL, etc.) and experience with grid interconnection requirements.

· Experience working with major equipment suppliers (transformers, modules, inverters, trackers) and managing external engineering partners.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
