INK TECHNICIAN A

TITLE: Ink Technician A 

SHIFT: Second (2nd) Shift: 2:00pm to 10:00pm

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Under minimal supervision, provide color matching, formulating, and small batch blending support on-site at the given customer location. Produce and quality control inks to ensure the product meet or exceed the customer’s expectations. Maintain detailed production and quality control records. Support customer’s schedule through production coordination. Work safely and maintain good housekeeping. Provide strong press side technical service, troubleshoot problems and provide detailed and consistent technical reporting. Maintain monthly and weekly reporting to CTS and Sales organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience driving a forklift truck, preferred.
• Industry experience 5-7 years.
• This is a customer-facing position that requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to be successful. Reporting is also a requirement; therefore, strong written communication skills are required.
• The incumbent must possess good mathematical skills to properly weigh and adjust batches as required. Creative problem-solving skills are a must in order to be successful in the troubleshooting aspect of this role.

• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Produce and quality control inks to ensure inks meet or exceed the customer’s specifications.
• Maintain detailed production and QC records.
• Perform color matching and formulation.
• Identifies rework opportunities based on review of batch tickets.
• Maintain Housekeeping and Safe operations.
• Provide strong press side technical support.
• Maintain monthly and weekly reporting to the CTS and Sales organization.
• Planning: (S)He establishes the daily ink production schedule based on customer’s press schedule, including inventory control (ordering/receiving of inks). (S)He also builds and implements action plans related to best practice strategies and implementation within the in-plant assignment.
• Problem Solving: (S)He provides technical guidance to determine areas of approach to problem resolution related to application of our products on the press. Also works as a technical advisor to eliminate root cause of the day-to-day press room problems. Once root cause is identified, will set-up training to make sure all are aware of the problems resolutions.

OTHER INFORMATION:

• Ensure GMP are exerted throughout the production process.
• Ensure production process follows SQF Code.
• Ensure ISO procedures are exerted throughout the production process.
• Ensure production process follows ISO Code.

TRAINING:

• Attend site safety or job training classes.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:

• Must be well versed in a variety of dispensing software platforms (i.e. Novaflow, Mixmaster, etc…) and color matching technologies (i.e. X-Rite, GSI, etc…). Must also have strong pressroom and printing process knowledge.

VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

• The position requires the individual to differentiate colors, depth, and perception.
