Role Overview
We’re seeking a Medical Research Associate to develop and refine high-quality genomic content and the scientific connection to medical conditions. This person will work closely with the Research and Development Team and Chief Medical Officer to turn complex science and clinical information into clear, concise, and digestible content for easier interpretation by clinicians.
A strong understanding and comprehension of genetics, cell and molecular biology, the immune system, and pathophysiology of human diseases and disorders is key for this role. Success in this position also requires the ability to analyze and interpret scientific publications to draw your own conclusions, as well as the ability to use AI to accelerate the research process.
Must live in Texas, and be willing to work on-site in Austin. Job does not provide for relocation.
Key Responsibilities
· Collaborate with and assist researchers on the design, maintenance, and refinement of genomic information.
· Translate and communicate complex genomic information into understandable and scientifically accurate summaries.
· Technical writing to incorporate these summaries into requirements for our clinician portal
· Analyze scientific literature relating to genetic variants and their functional consequences.
· Compile data on single nucleotide polymorphisms and molecular pathways, drawing relevant conclusions in relation to medical conditions.
· Research and help develop or refine genomically targeted potential interventions such as supplements, medications, and/or lifestyle changes with mechanistic rationale and clinical outcomes evidence.
· Leverage AI-based tools to streamline research and development.
· Monitor and input genetic and scientific data, while ensuring acceptable levels of accuracy and clinical utility.
· Manage and prioritize multiple, shifting projects and timelines with professionalism and focus.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree or Bachelor of Science in biology, medical science, genetics or genomics, cell and molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, neuroscience or a similar field.
· 3 years of scientific or medical research experience.
· Strong understanding of human genomics, ability to interpret scientific literature, and high level of attention to detail required.
· Highly organized with excellent time-management skills and demonstrated self-start with ability to learn quickly and troubleshoot complex problems.
· Proven experience collaborating or leading research projects, drawing novel conclusions based on findings.
· Interest in the etiology of chronic medical conditions
Preferred Attributes
· Must be open minded and ideally interested in how supplements, nutrition and lifestyle interact with the human genome
· Previous experience in the development and maintenance of internal databases.
· Ability to communicate effectively and cross collaborate with teams.
· Previous scientific or medical publications and experience in the analysis and translation of large datasets.
· Understanding of how genes and environment interact to contribute to diseases and disorders
· Understanding of functional/integrative medicine and the mechanism of supplements.
