Job Title: Mainframe Systems SME
Location: Torrance, CA (Onsite – 4 days/week)
Travel: Up to 10%
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support enterprise-level applications and projects. The role involves close collaboration with project and team managers to drive delivery across multiple initiatives, including production support and application enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert for mainframe systems across projects and support activities
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions
- Lead and contribute to end-to-end delivery including:
- Requirements gathering
- Functional and detailed design
- Development and testing (Unit, Integration, System, UAT)
- Implementation and post-production support
- Define and recommend architectural solutions aligned with business needs
- Manage assigned work units ranging from medium-sized enhancements to large-scale projects
- Provide regular status updates to project stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, and DB2
- Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Knowledge of software engineering, system design, and solution architecture
- Ability to work across multi-tier and cross-platform environments
- Strong collaboration skills to work across cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with .NET Core, C#, MVC, and Angular
- Familiarity with enterprise IT landscape (infrastructure, networks, application architecture)
- Exposure to supply chain, warehousing, or parts management systems
