Job Title: Structural Design Engineer
Location: Pelzer, SC
JOB SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer (SE) will be responsible for the structural design of customized AC and DC Power Modules, IT Modules and Data Centers for three core market segments; IT, Telecom and Industrial. This position will support customer requirements and business development activities. The SE will provide general Structural designs for Data Centers, Telecommunications Central Offices, Switching Centers, Video Hub Offices, etc. and will work directly with the module manufacturing facility to develop a detailed workshop drawing package. The SE will complete the design based on local and international building codes including seismic, thermal and structural requirements, etc. The SE will coordinate structural design with architectural, electrical, thermal, mechanical and controls engineers requirements. The SE will also participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Testing with a focus on general design concepts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead structural design for modular data centers, power modules, and telecom infrastructure.
- Develop conceptual, detailed, and construction-ready structural designs and drawings.
- Perform structural calculations and ensure compliance with applicable building codes and standards.
- Design structural components, foundations, and supporting mechanical features.
- Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and manufacturing teams.
- Prepare material specifications, welding requirements, and structural testing procedures.
- Support fabrication, quality inspections, factory/site acceptance testing, and field repairs.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and contractors to deliver cost-effective engineering solutions.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or acceptable experience
- Professional engineering (PE) License – optional
- Minimum 4 years of mechanical/structural engineering experience
- Working knowledge in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications
- Knowledge and understanding of local and national building codes
- Must be able to interpret customer specification requirements
- Must have the ability to research new designs, technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Ability to think outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability or maintainability.
- Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
