Title: QC Microbiology Staff Associate
Location: North Carolina
Duration: 4 months initially

Position Summary
The QC Microbiology Staff Associate is responsible for performing routine and non-routine microbiological testing to support raw material, in-process, environmental, and finished product quality assessment. The role ensures compliance with established laboratory procedures, regulatory standards, and company quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Microbiological Testing
- Perform microbiological analyses including bioburden, endotoxin, microbial limits testing, sterility, plate counts, and identification of microorganisms.
- Conduct environmental monitoring (EM) of classified areas, including air, surface, personnel, and water systems.
- Execute method qualifications, verifications, and routine assay support.
- Laboratory Operations
- Prepare, maintain, and qualify microbiological media, reagents, and consumables.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as incubators, autoclaves, biological safety cabinets, particle counters, and microscopes.
- Maintain stock cultures and positive controls as required for testing.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Document all activities in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Ensure testing is compliant with applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, ISO standards, FDA, USP, EP).
- Participate in investigations, deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) results, and CAPA activities.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in reviewing and developing SOPs, test methods, and laboratory protocols.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize microbiology processes and workflows.
- Safety
- Follow all laboratory safety guidelines, biosafety procedures, and proper handling of microorganisms.
- Maintain a clean and controlled laboratory environment.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or related life sciences field required.
Experience
- 3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in a regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, food, or environmental testing).
- Familiarity with GMP, GLP, or ISO standards preferred.
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of microbiological techniques and aseptic practices.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures accurately and consistently.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
