Industrial Maintenance Mechanic -- Packaging Equipment

Compensation: $31.70 per hour | Employment Type: Direct Hire | Location: University Park, IL

Integrity Trade Services is partnering with a leading packaging manufacturer to add an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to their University Park operation. You’ll join the team directly on day one and be eligible for the client’s comprehensive benefits upon hire.

At 2:30 PM, you clock in for second shift and begin by reviewing the maintenance schedule and any urgent work orders. You might start with a preventative check on a corrugator, verifying sensors and relays, then move to a line call to trace a motor fault using a multimeter and schematics. Later, you install power feeds to a new piece of equipment, confirm interconnecting cables are properly landed, and listen for abnormal vibration or unusual sounds during test runs. When needed, you’ll strip down assemblies—belts, chains, gears, shafts, bearings—and rebuild them to spec, documenting the repair and collaborating with production to minimize downtime.

• Execute preventive, corrective, scheduled, minor, and emergency maintenance on production machines and building systems.
• Read and apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics and diagrams.
• Troubleshoot using precision measuring tools and electronic test equipment; repair to root cause.
• Install and terminate power-supply wiring and interconnects between systems.
• Diagnose issues with transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, and related controls; replace faulty cables, conductors, and components.
• Repair or replace electronic assemblies, including printed circuit boards.
• Observe equipment in operation to identify performance anomalies by sound and behavior.
• Disassemble, service, and reassemble equipment to restore optimal function.
• Inspect parts for defects, irregularities, and surface finish inconsistencies.
• Support fellow technicians and serve as a vendor liaison when needed.
• Set up machines, make fine adjustments, and verify efficient, stable operation.

2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM; overtime as business needs require.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years in industrial, electrical, or electromechanical maintenance within manufacturing.
• Proficiency across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems—installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and fluid power schematics.
• Hands-on knowledge of motors, transformers, power supplies, control panels, wiring, lighting, sensors, relays, PLC-driven equipment, and core electronic components.
• Track record performing preventive, scheduled, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment and facility systems.
• Experience rebuilding components: motors, bearings, belts, chains, gears, shafts, and electrical parts.
• Solid safety foundation: LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, electrical safety, and safe material handling.
• Independent self-starter who also partners well with operators, supervisors, contractors, and vendors.
• Clear communicator and problem-solver who can document work, set priorities, and coordinate repairs.
• Comfortable in a fast-moving production setting with shifting priorities.

• $31.70/hr, paid weekly through Integrity Trade Services.
