What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Supervisor position at Integrity Cheese Packaging of Wisconsin, Inc.?
Reporting to the President/Owner, the Plant Supervisor is responsible for all activities in the related department(s). Departments may include one or more areas such as cheese prep, packaging, sanitation, maintenance, etc. Provide direct supervision of team members for scheduling, training, performance, and employee development. Oversee the accomplishments of assigned work through the delegation to team leads. Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery and/or productivity. Assist in the hiring process and administer company policies. This position is ultimately responsible for 20 employees.
Responsibilities
- Create a work environment that motivates and empowers team members to meet and exceed expectations for productivity, quality, sanitation, and safety
- Coordinate with work crews to anticipate needs of production line and ensure regular status checks for each production line, including safety, quality, productivity, and operating procedures
- Work closely with warehouse staff, sales team members as well as customers ensuring their needs are met
- Identify & implement continuous improvements to increase workplace safety, improve factory efficiencies, and achieve cost savings
- Ensure high quality manufacturing standards are maintained and all employee training is completed and current
- Troubleshoot problems with equipment
- Adhere all government food safety and sanitation regulations - FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA
- Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) to meet defined targets; proactively address issues and collaborate across departments to resolve problems
- Develop and communicate goals and required actions at regularly held team meetings, and cascade vital operational information to other groups and/or shifts
- Forecast labor requirements and equipment needs. Anticipate bottlenecks that could impede smooth production flows and on-time customer deliveries
- Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and performance evaluations, address and resolve employee relations matters, coaching and training and conducting job evaluations
- Responsible for handling employee related matters including but not limited to scheduling, distributing daily work assignments, accurate time and attendance and vacation approvals
- Ensure team members are aware of and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Report all injuries and near misses; conduct accident investigation and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
· This position may also perform some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the team members within the department
· Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Industrial Management with at least 1 year experience as a production supervisor is preferred
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; food industry
- Proven ability to lead and/or supervise teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to create, read, and understand spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
- Superior math skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Good organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Knowledge in production machinery and plant preventative maintenance a plus

Work Environment
The Plant Supervisor may have to spend up to 10 hours standing, bending, twisting, turning, using arms and hands for reaching, handling, and manipulating objects, lift items weighing up to 40 pounds, need to climb up and down ladders and other climbing devices, be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
Protective Equipment
All employees must wear safety glasses, non-slip steel toe shoes, protective gloves, hair net, and ear protection, as required.
